What happens when an Indian decides to make Indian Hummus? Tandoori Hummus for one. Hummus traditionally comes from the Mediterranean region and is famous all around the world. Hummus is a dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas or other beans, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and garlic.

I had to make a few substitutes to make it #wfpbno and tried by adding Tandoori Masala and spice things up a little bit. To my surprise, it came out good. Especially coming out of the holiday weekend, it is a great spread that goes with veggies.

Ingredients
2 cans 15oz garbanzo beans; drained and washed
4 garlic cloves; peeled and chopped
4 tbsp Pine nuts
1/2 tsp black pepper; crushed
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp tandoori masala

Preparation
1. In a blender jar, add garbanzo beans, garlic, pine nuts, black pepper, lemon juice, salt, and tandoori masala.
2. Blend all the ingredients until turn in to smooth paste (add 3-4 tbsp of water if needed for desired consistency). You can add more tandoori masala based on your desired taste too.
3. Enjoy tandoori hummus with pita and veggies.
